New image spot of Bank Millennium, extension of cooperation with Millennium Docs Against Gravity
The 21st edition of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival, of which Bank Millennium has been a patron for 19 years, will begin on 10 May. On this occasion, the Bank has prepared a unique image spot, promoting the largest documentary film festival in Poland. This year, the bank's cooperation with the festival will be extended for another three years.
- I am very pleased to announce that our cooperation with the festival will last another three years. It is with pride and pleasure that we have been accompanying the festival for 19 years and together with Against Gravity we promote this largest film festival today, a great celebration of documentary cinema. Millennium Docs Against Gravity is our flagship project as part of our cultural sponsorship. We want to share it with the broadest audience possible. It touches on many important and difficult topics that we as people and societies have to face, forcing one to think. Especially important ones are those relating to protection of the planet – climate and the natural environment, including endangered species and forest areas, which play a key role in the fight against global warming. This idea has accompanied the Bank Millennium Group for a long time. Together with festival organisers, we also create the space where one’s own story can be told by groups which are often socially excluded. In supporting this event we facilitate very broad access to the world of culture and social debate ― Iwona Jarzębska, Director of Public Relations Department of Bank Millennium, says.
- The organisation of such a great undertaking as the festival would not have been possible without the support of our naming rights sponsor. Bank Millennium has been with us for almost two decades and the information about the support for the coming years allows us to look into the future with hope. We are glad that the Bank has believed in our idea of creating a documentary film festival that fulfils the role of an agora for so many years. People who are open to the world participate in the séance together, and then talk, discuss, quarrel, agree on positions. We watch films describing the world, and the dark cinema hall has a therapeutic effect. The MDAG Festival has always had the ambition to be such a place – a place of confrontation of ideas, revelations, encounters with the unknown. Watching a high-quality documentary to expanding the field of consciousness is just one screening away. Thank you for creating the largest film festival in Poland together - says Artur Liebhart, director of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival.
Millennium Docs Against Gravity will take place from May 10th to May 19th in seven cities (Warsaw, Wrocław, Gdynia, Poznań, Katowice, Łódź and Bydgoszcz), followed by an online edition - from May 21st to June 3rd on mdag.pl.
The motto of this year's festival "In Relation to the World" refers to the extraordinary value of documentary cinema, in which, like in a mirror, we can look at ourselves and learn more about ourselves, others and the world. The Bank's spot, referring to the festival's slogan, also speaks about the values that guide it.
Every day you build your relationship with the world anew
The closer to you and the more distant
With your planet and your home
With the people around you
And with myself
With a world that's changing before your eyes
Let's build these relationships responsibly
Bank Millennium supports what is most important
Environment, culture, local communities.
Preventing climate change and caring for the environment are priorities included in the strategy of Bank Millennium. In the field of sustainable development these are, among others: short and long-term goals for reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in all scopes, increasing financing for projects related to sustainable development and transformation of the Bank’s customers, lack of involvement in financing coal energy and mining, and support for initiatives to increase awareness and knowledge about climate change.
