Bank Millennium sponsors the Sacrum Profanum Festival

Sacrum Profanum is an international project, which has gained the status of one of the most interesting musical events in Europe. It presents latest music, aiming at erasing the borderline between contemporary classical music, often treated as difficult and incomprehensible, and the achievements of the ambitious entertainment-experimental scene. Its rank is built by participation – on the one hand – of the best ensembles performing contemporary classical music, i.a. Ensemble Modern, Alarm Will Sound, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Kronos Quartet, on the other hand – stars of the world’s alternative scene i.a. Aphex Twin, Jónsi, Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Adrian Utley (Portishead), Kraftwerk or Sigur Rós.

The festival has won the most recognised Polish prizes and awards. It has also been included in the official calendar of the Polish Presidency in the Council of the European Union. The Festival, recommended by prestigious music magazines including Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, Mezzo television, is widely acclaimed by critics and the public at large. The Festival’s events are covered every year by more than 160 reporters from Poland and abroad.

Sacrum Profanum 2017

On 26th of September, a next edition of the Cracow Sacrum Profanum festival starts. During the six festival days there will be seventeen concerts held and numerous satellite events. Following the tradition, Bank Millennium has become the sponsor of this event.

Every year, Sacrum Profanum is one of the key points in the cultural calendar of those interested in contemporary music and the Bank is proud to be able to support this event ― says Iwona Jarzębska, director of the Public Relations Department at Bank Millennium.

This year Sacrum Profanum Festival will be held between 26th of September and 1st of October. Apart from the main programme, there will be also concerts for children and topical discussions held as satellite events. The programme of the festival is supplemented by free concerts, meetings, workshops and discussions.

Bank Millennium has been engaged in cultural events for almost 30 years. Parallel to its business operations, it has been supporting national as well as local cultural events. The bank is a 360° sponsor of culture because it promotes art in almost all its forms, including music, painting, sculpture, film, theatre, photography, literature and performance. During 17 years it sponsored the “Golden Sceptre” award for outstanding artists. 11 years - “Pearls of Millennium”, a joint project of the Bank and TVP, which aimed to produce, promote and broadcast on TVP channels high culture artistic events. For 15 years now, the Bank has been sponsoring “Złota Tarka” Old Jazz Meeting, International Traditional Jazz Festival. For 6 years, the Bank has been involved in “Sacrum Profanum” contemporary music festival and for 5 years – in the Gdańsk Music Festival; for 5 years - in Bella Skyway Festival. For 7 years the Bank was involved in “Two Theatres” Festival; it also supported the Mozart Festival at the Warsaw Chamber Opera as well as many others.
