Bank Millennium sponsors International Festival of Traditional Jazz "Old Jazz Meeting - Złota Tarka”

This Friday, Iława will once again become the capital of jazz. On 9 August the International Festival of Traditional Jazz "Old Jazz Meeting - Złota Tarka” will start. Three days full of extraordinary musical experiences and many outstanding Polish and foreign musicians await jazz fans. Bank Millennium has been a sponsor of the festival for more than 20 years now.

This year’s edition of “Złota Tarka” Festival will be held on 9-11 August in Iława, traditionally on the stage of the amphitheatre named after Louis Armstrong. During the festival, stars of the Polish and world music scene will perform. It will be attended by Leszek Możdżer, Urszula Dudziak ang Grażyna Auguścik among others.

On August 9, the fourth edition of the Lindy Hop Jazz Battle will take place. It is a project combining improvisations in the style of Dixie, New Orleans, swing with dance from the 20s-40s of the twentieth century. Then, the outstanding pianist Leszek Możdżer will perform on stage. The artist is one of the most interesting phenomena of Polish jazz in recent decades. The culmination of Friday evening will be the performance of the Olivier Franc Quintet, who will take us into the world of traditional French jazz. At midnight, a Jazz Ball will be held in the City Park with the participation of Natalia Świerczyńska. The singer will perform in the company of Poznań musicians, taking the audience straight to the swinging 40s.

On 10 August, the Gala Concert will begin with the performance of the ILAVA All Stars Big Band. The ensemble brings together teachers and students of the Iława music school and musicians from Iława. Then, Urszula Dudziak and Grażyna Auguścik will appear on stage accompanied by the Grzech Piotrowski Band in the project "To i Hola". This is an example of the attractiveness of Polish folklore, which previously inspired artists such as Chopin, Szymanowski, Górecki, Namysłowski, Ciechowski, Bowie, but also found recognition among music lovers from all over the world.
The evening will end with "100 years of jazz in world cinema", in which such stars as Mietek Szcześniak, Nanna Carling, Natalia Świerczyńska, Natalia Muianga, Tamara Behler and Martin Fitch will perform. The repertoire includes compositions by the titans of world jazz in original film arrangements with the addition of jazz improvisations.

On 11 August the festival will end with a Jazz Mass, in which the Sisters in Jazz group will take part.
