Bank Millennium supports Paralympians for the fourth time already

Paralympians are going to the Olympics in Paris. 84 Polish athletes will compete for medals, including all scholarship holders of the final edition of the #CorinneRunsForGood campaign. Bank Millennium has been supporting this unique project of Martyna Wojciechowska's Unaweza foundation for 4 years.

On 28 August, the 17th Summer Paralympic Games begin. All scholarship holders of this year's #CorinneRunsForGood campaign, which is supported by Bank Millennium, have been nominated to represent Poland. The initiator of the program is Corinne Klajdy, a runner who took part in one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world to support her charges.

In Paris, 84 athletes will compete in a record number of 15 out of 22 disciplines included in the Olympic programme. Nine of them will perform with the support of an assistant, pilot or guide. The scholarship holders of the fourth edition of the #CorinneRunsForGood campaign, who will go to Paris, represent paracanoeing, wheelchair fencing, weightlifting, powerlifting, paracycling, parashooting, para-athletics and para-table tennis.

Bank Millennium has contributed to the fundraising for this noble cause for the fourth time and funded scholarships for female athletes through the #CorinneRunsForGood campaign, coordinated by Martyna Wojciechowska's Unaweza foundation.

- Women with disabilities who practice sports competitively, struggle with their barriers and train hard as well as a runner who decided to run one of the heaviest ultramarathons in the world to interest others in the situation of paralympic women did not remain indifferent to Bank Millennium. For 4 years we have been supporting the fundraiser for this purpose, donating funds to cover the cost of scholarships for paralympic women, which makes it easier for them to prepare for participation in the paralympic gamescomments Iwona Jarzębska, Director of the Public Relations Department at Bank Millennium.

Bank Millennium is focused on searching for innovative and integrating (counter-exclusion) products and distribution channels and in its approach to customer service. We strive to ensure that all customers, including people with disabilities, have convenient access to services.

For the first time in history, the Olympic and Paralympic Games share a common logo. They are accompanied by the slogan: "Games Wide Open". The first competition for people with disabilities was organised in 1948 in Stoke Mandeville by Dr. Ludwig Guttmann, and the first Paralympic Games were held in 1960 in Rome. Since their first appearance in 1972, our representatives have won a total of 798 medals. At the last Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, the Polish team won a total of 24 medals – 7 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze.
