Film July with Millennium Docs Against Gravity at Polish summer festivals

31 films, 47 shows at 6 festivals in all Poland and also in Warsaw urban spaces. From Opener through Nowe Horyzonty, selected documentaries from the 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity as well as films from older editions of the festival. They include this year’s multiple winner also of Bank Millennium’s Grand Prix, the film “Honeyland” - this is what the first month of the holiday season will bring.

Film July will begin in Gdynia at the Opener festival and at Podlasie SlowFest in Supraśl. Millennium Docs Against Gravity will also appear at three film festivals: Transatlantyk in Łódź, Dwa Brzegi in Kazimierz Dolny, Nowe Horyzonty in Wrocław. Also all month the festival films will be shown in Warsaw: outdoor in Elektrownia Powiśle (on Wednesdays and Saturdays) and in Stół Powszechny.

Iwona Jarzębska, Director of Public Relations Department in Bank Millennium - the naming rights sponsor of the festival - speaks about Millennium Docs Against Gravity: Millennium Docs Against Gravity is a magnificent festival, which is a window to the world out there. For Bank Millennium the values, which the festival represents, are important: openness, courage and discussing subjects, which have significance for the community today but also for future generations. We are glad that the festival has a follow-up during the holiday season and that its films are included in the agendas of events in big cities and also in local ones organised in small towns where often times there is no cinema and access to cinematic art is limited.

The festival audience will have the opportunity to see i.a. Honeyland, which was an absolute hit of the 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival and won: the Grand Prix — Main Award of Bank Millennium, Grand Prix of Silesia — the Award from the Marshal of Silesian Voivodeship, Award of the Mayor of Gdynia as well as Bydgoszcz ART.DOC Award. Agendas of the festivals will also include such renowned and recognised titles as the Oscar® nominee and winner of the 15th edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity — Minding the Gap directed by Bing Liu, Female Pleasure — winner of the Warsaw Documentary Award and Award of the Readers of "Co Jest Grane 24" at the 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival, and also such jewels as: Jean Paul Gaultier. Freak And Chic, My Generation, PJ Harvey. A Dog Called Money or Anthropocene: The Human Epoch.
