Update the browserToday, on August 24, 6 months after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the attacked country celebrates its 31st anniversary of independence. The Bank Millennium Foundation chose this very day to broadcast a film about volunteers - 140 employees of Bank Millennium, who implemented their 33 aid initiatives and helped 8,000 refugees in a special edition of the foundation's programme "#słuchaMYwspieraMY for citizens of Ukraine". The Bank Millennium Foundation and Bank Millennium allocated PLN 1 million for the volunteering programme and support for non-governmental organizations.
From March 1 to May 31, 2022, the Bank Millennium Foundation implemented the "#słuchaMYwspieraMY for Ukrainian citizens" programme and together with the bank's employees organized aid initiatives for Ukrainian citizens who, after February 24, found themselves in Poland in search of shelter. Thanks to the grants from the foundation, 140 volunteers provided support for those in need. The volunteers reached accommodation and food points, kindergartens, schools, day-care centres, educational institutions, foundations, organizations. They were at railway stations and depots, at the border, and received the refugees in their homes.
- Just a moment ago, the border was something that divides, something that does not unite. After February 24 this year, it united us forever. As a society and banking community, today, we have a different understanding of charity. We understand it as a real, actual commitment. This understanding goes hand in hand with listening to the needs of others and helping. In the face of the events in Ukraine, the response time and the scale of activity were important. We reacted immediately and together with our colleagues we helped the citizens of Ukraine. Part of our crew are also people from Ukraine, who also implemented their own initiatives and evaluated the initiatives proposed by our employees. Together with 140 employees, their relatives and families, we helped more than 8,000 refugees. Thanks to the Bank Millennium Foundation and Bank Millennium, we donated PLN 1 million for volunteer activities and support for non-governmental organizations. I quote the numbers, but it was all thanks to the commitment of people that we could help. We do not wait – we listen, support and act – said Aleksandra Tobiasz from the Public Relations Department of Bank Millennium, coordinator of the #słuchaMYwspieraMY programme.
The Foundation extended its thanks to the volunteers for participating in this special edition of the programme by publishing a film entitled „WHO, if not US? #słuchaMYwspieraMY the citizens of Ukraine” featuring them as protagonists. The video was published on the communication channels of the foundation and the bank: You Tube, fb fan page of the foundation, foundation website, Linkedin and in the in-house banking portal, World Millennium –with this gesture the Bank Millennium Foundation celebrated the Independence Day of Ukraine.
